The drive that takes a motorist home to his or her family and loved ones is most people's favourite journey, a study has found.
According to a survey of 2,000 drivers conducted by Halfords, the journey home beats some of Britain's most scenic drives, including the routes through the Scottish Highlands and the Cornish Riviera.
The survey showed that drivers want to reach home as quickly as possible, and prefer roads that are free of traffic jams, speed cameras and pot holes.
Driver-friendly roads lead to fewerbreakdowns and can also help car owners cut down on their premium.
People voted for motorways such as the the M1, M6 and M40 above the A roads, which are traditionally believed to offer the smoother driving experience.
Around 90% of all surveyed said they programmed their home road into a satnav, and regularly use its help navigate their way home.
