Details have been released of Mercedes-Benz's all-new E-Class, due to go on sale in the UK this summer.
Targeting a new generation of younger, more dynamic motorists, the latest E-Class promises advanced technology and some of the most fuel-efficient engines ever produced by the manufacturer.
The sharp-edged C-Class has inspired the new exterior styling, with its sleek lines achieving a very low drag coefficient, contributing to car's economy.
All models except for the V8 versions benefit from the BlueEfficiency package, which includes low rolling resistance tyres, on-demand power steering, fuel pump and air conditioning. Fuel consumption is improved as a result - as much as 53mpg in the E250 CDI model.
Advanced safety technology is also showcased in the E-Class, including a system to detect driver drowsiness, automatic emergency braking and night-view radar.
The new E-Class reaches UK showrooms in June 2009, with prices yet to be confirmed.
