Humberside's police and crime commissioner has been sent on a speed awareness course after breaking a road limit.
Matthew Grove was clocked at 36mph in a 30mph zone on the Peaks Parkway in Grimsby at around 9.30pm on October 4.
He then received a letter informing him that he had broken the speed limit and was offered the opportunity to pay £95 to take part in a speed awareness course.
Mr Grove opted to take part in the course rather than be prosecuted for a motoring offence.
"I have driven over 20,000 miles this year and have a clean driving licence," he insisted.
"I am therefore disappointed my driving was not to the required standard on this occasion.
"I will continue to drive myself to meetings and welcome this opportunity to use the course to reflect on my standard of driving."
The Tory candidate narrowly edged out Lord (John) Prescott in an election for the police and crime commissioner role in November last year.
