Continental has topped sports car magazine Evo's tyre test for a second time in 2010 with a strong all-round performance.
The new ContiSportContact 5 P was tested against eight rivals in the 235/35R19 category on the front wheel drive Renaultsport Megane 250 Cup.
Evo assessed the brands for their performance during wet braking, dry braking, straight and curved aquaplaning as well as rolling resistance on the tracks. In addition, the tyres were tested on the road to see how they fared in normal driving conditions.
Continental scored particularly well in aquaplaning or hydroplaning, which Evo described as "one of the most frightening situations you can encounter". The ContiSportContact 5 P emerged as the winner in both the curved and straight line aquaplaning tests.
The magazine said: "A very solid performance sees the Continental take the win ... It set the standard in many of the tests, taking an almost clean sweep in the dry tests and rating very highly in the wet tests, too. It also garnered praise for its feel and abilities in the subjective tests."
