A confused octogenarian who drove along a railway platform by mistake has been arrested on grounds of driving dangerously.
The 80-year-old driver was spotted by oassengers at Esher Station, in Surrey, who contacted emergency services when they saw the pensioner trying to figure out his route on the platform.
The motorist, who drove on for another 75m, had to halt his Saab car after platform space ran out. The police arrived at the scene and took several hours dealing with the issue, causing delays to a train bound for Waterloo.
According to police, the man had taken a wrong turn along a footpath, travelling 200m and ending up on the railway platform.
