Northumbria Police has released CCTV footage of two people hanging on to the bonnet of a friend's moving car, following the conviction of its driver for motoring offences.
Katie Bough, 19, of Chowdene Bank in Gateshead, is likely to find renewing hercar insurance challenging after being convicted of dangerous driving following the incident, in which video appears to show Bough's Ford Fiesta crossing a junction with two figures clinging on to the windscreen wipers.
Bough was pulled over by police officers in Team Valley, Gateshead, on the night of Sunday April 8 earlier this year.
As well as the unusual seating arrangement, Bough was also pulled up by prosecutors for using her mobile phone behind the wheel. After pleading guilty of dangerous driving, Bough was ordered to pay £80 costs and banned from driving for 15 months.
Commenting on the case, chief inspector Sarah Pitt said: "This woman's actions are completely unacceptable. Those involved are lucky there were no serious injuries."
