A leading industry body has issued car maintenance tips for winter.
The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has said that car owners can't afford to miss routine servicing in the winter months despite the financial squeeze households are under.
Owners need to ensure that maintenance work is carried out by qualified, accredited professionals. Modern day maintenance staff need a high level of technical knowledge and expertise because of the sophisticated electronic systems on the vehicles.
Motorists can ensure continued reliability, efficiency, safety and a high re-sale value if the vehicle is kept in good working order.
The IMI has also advised motorists to regularly monitor levels of engine coolant, antifreeze, oil and brake fluid. They also need to ensure that all lights and indicators are clean and working properly.
Valid and comprehensivebreakdown cover is also recommended while driving during winter.
