Motoring enthusiasts have rejected criticism from green groups over the transportation of a £190,000 Lamborghini from Qatar to London for a service.
Friends of the Earth described the 6,500-mile round trip as taking climate wrecking behaviour to new heights.
However, David Price, of the Lamborghini Club Great Britain, told The Sun newspaper: "If an owner wants to service his car in that way it is his choice.
"I'm not surprised. Thankfully, the age of excess in some areas continues."
Transporting the black-and-gold supercar plus the service of the two-door Murcielago model would have cost around £23,000 and took four days door-to-door.
Friends of the Earth's transport campaigner Tony Bosworth said: "With rising fuel costs and mounting concern about climate change most people are trying to save energy. They are likely to find this type of wasteful and damaging activity outrageous."
Lamborghini UK spokeswoman Juliet Jarvis added that sort of thing is not unheard of and that there could be kudos for a Middle East owner in servicing a car in London.
