A three-year-old boy in South Yorkshire has been caught damaging cars, police statistics have revealed.
Data obtained under a Freedom of Information Act request showed the youngster was responsible for vandalising vehicles, which may have left owners with unexpectedcar insurance claims, in a street near his home close to Rotherham.
He was too young to be charged with any offence since the age of criminal responsibility is 10.
Three other children under the age of 10 were found vandalising cars this year in Rotherham. A further three were involved in a snooker club robbery, it was revealed.
According to South Yorkshire Police, the figures represent a decrease in the number of incidents involving children who have not yet reached their teens.
A spokesman said it "highlights the positive work carried out by South Yorkshire Police and its partners to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour among young people."
