German car giant BMW has unveiled the initial details of its brand new M6 Gran Coupe, which is due to go on sale in the middle of 2013.
The new model, which is based on the four-door 6-Series Gran Coupe, offers the practicality of a long four-door car with additional luxury features and the powerful 551bhp 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 TwinPower engine.
It will have a top speed of 155mph and do 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds. And, at 502lb.ft, peak torque can be achieved between 1,500rpm and 5,750rpm with peak power also delivered between 6,000rpm and 7,000rpm.
Despite the power and speed though, BMW claims that the European standard fuel economy tests demonstrate that the M6 Gran Coupe will do 28.5mpg on average and have emissions of 232g/km.
Power is transferred to rear wheels using a seven-speed double-clutch transmission. It also boasts specially tuned Variable Damper Control and M Servotronic hydraulic steering, with all of that technology available for £97,490 from May 25.
