Bendtner handed £5,000 driving fine

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has been fined almost £5,000 for driving offences.

Bendtner, 24, was caught by police in South Tyneside driving his £40,000 Audi Q7 withoutcar insurance or a driving licence.

When asked why he had no insurance or proper number plates, Bendtner allegedly told police that he had a 'friend who sorts that out for me'.

He was charged with driving without the correct licence, using a vehicle without insurance and two counts of driving a vehicle with a registration plate not conforming with regulations at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court.

The Daily Mail reports that the Danish international was found guilty in his absence and fined £4,750 by magistrates.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and had six points added to his licence.

Magistrates were told that the footballer, who was on loan at Sunderland last season, failed to reapply for his licence following a previous driving ban.

Bendtner was banned from driving for 56 days by Newcastle Magistrates' Court in February after he was caught speeding at 103mph in his Porsche 911.
