Audi A1 gets five stars for safety

A European vehicle safety organisation entrusted with checking the safety of new cars has given a five star rating to Audi's new compact A1 model.

The car was awarded top marks byEuro NCAP after it scored high on adult protection in frontal, rear or side collisions, child safety, and pedestrian protection.

The German carmaker said it was delighted with the success of its A1 model.

It added that the front end of the model is specially designed to alleviate damage to pedestrians and cyclists in case of an accident.

Also adding to the safety standards of the A1 is the improved stability afforded by standard ESP.

The Audi A1, available with a range of petrol and diesel engines, starts at £13,420.
