Aston Martin has been synonymous with speed for 100 years, but it has moved into a new gear with its fastest-accelerating car to date, bar one special exception.
The new V12 Vantage S sports car is the most powerful Vantage ever built. It goes from a standstill to 60mph in just 3.7 seconds, a record almost unsurpassed by any other models bearing the famous Aston Martin wings. Only its sold-out, limited edition One-77 hypercar can beat it for pace.
A specificationbreakdown shows the Vantage can reach a top speed of 205mph powered by the new 573 PS AM28 6.0-litre V12 engine and it is just as flexible as it is powerful with 620 Nm of torque generated at 5,750 rpm and 510 Nm at 1,000 rpm.
Its driveability is further enhanced by the new Sportshift III automated manual transmission (AMT).
It is a "gentleman's suit" for drivers who love speed, according to Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez. He added that the V12 Vantage S brings Aston Martin's successful GT3 capabilities to the road and is the purest drive imaginable.
