Airport launches drop-off charge

Luton Airport has introduced a controversial £1 charge for passengers being dropped off.

Drivers will have to pay to drop passengers at the revamped drop-off zone in front of the terminal building.

However, free parking for 60 minutes is available at the mid-term car park, which has a free shuttle service going to the front of the terminal.

A review of transport and parking arrangements at the airport prompted the change.

An airport spokeswoman said: "We have looked at all the access to the airport and we've looked at all of the options and this is part of a larger access plan to help traffic flow at the airport."
