Audi TT S: class-leading roadster

Finally a TT that can rival the superb Porsche Boxster. Andrew Frankel takes it for a spin

Audi TT S Quattro Roadster

This model from £41,140

Two people, roof down in a beautiful roadster, heading for an adventure… That has always been the Audi TT promise. But the problem until now has been that previous generation TTs have somewhat under-delivered upon arrival. No longer: this TT may look similar to its predecessors, but it is a brand new car and the first of its line to focus equally on the provision of driving and viewing pleasure.

The result is a car transformed. The TT is as gorgeous as ever and brimming with tech (including a nav screen right in front of your eyes between the two major dials that shrink to the size of large coins when you wish to browse the map) and it’s also far more comfortable and vastly more responsive and rewarding to drive.

We’ve chosen the TT S Roadster as perhaps the ultimate expression off this new ethos, but it’s there in all the others too. A TT that’s as good to drive as it is to look at? At last and emphatically yes.
