Ensure that your fleet is in good order and that any faults are identified early.
RAC Vehicle Inspections are designed to help you manage the maintenance of your fleet and avoid costly repairs by identifying problems early enough for them to be put right quickly and at minimal cost. If you don't already have a fleet maintenance function in your business, RAC Vehicle Inspections could be your ideal solution.
We offer four specific types of inspection:
Duty of care - a programme of regular vehicle checks to identify potential problems that can be addressed before they turn into major faults.
Cause and fault - suitable for companies that lease their vehicles, this inspection provides an independent check of a vehicles' faults to find the cause so that costs can be assigned correctly to the driver or to a warranty.
Fair wear and tear - if your company leases its vehicles this inspection provides you with an independent check at the end of the vehicles' lease periods and an estimate of the costs you might need to pay to the leasing company.
Service, maintenance and repair - we carry out spot checks and workshop audits of your service, maintenance and repair suppliers to make sure that their performance is up to scratch.
Duty of care obligations
By running a fleet of vehicles you are obliged to meet your duty of care responsibilities. Carrying out thorough and regular inspections by independent experts will make sure that dangerous or illegal faults are identified before your employees find them the hard way.
Keep your fleet maintenance costs down
Identifying faults in vehicles early on gives you a much better chance of putting them right before they turn into costly faults or failures and keeping your fleet on the road working for you.
Inspections done by independent experts
Our RAC engineers are only concerned with the roadworthiness of your vehicles and the safety of your drivers. They conduct over 350,000 inspections a year in the UK and each of our inspectors has a recognised industry qualification, membership of IRTE/IMI or equivalent and at least 8 years experience in the motor trade. You can be confident that if a vehicle has a fault, they'll find it.
Protection for your employees
The law states that the driver is responsible and therefore liable for the roadworthiness of the vehicle they are driving. Not only will your employees appreciate that their vehicles have been inspected for faults, it will also mean that they won't be liable for any driving penalties.
