Subaru unveils Impreza replacement

22 Jan 2014 at 12:25

Subaru has announced the launch of the stunning new WRX STi, which will pick up from where the iconic Impreza left off.

Modelled on the mark IV Impreza, the WRX STi will feature a 2.5-litre horizontally mounted four-cylinder engine, known as a 'Boxer' configuration.

The WRX STi churns out an impressive 301bhp in a turbocharged engine that also produces 290lb.ft of torque.

Subaru has introduced new versions of its Vehicle Dynamics Control and Active Torque Vectoring that will help to boost the already devastating acceleration.

Steering mechanisms have been strengthened for better handling feedback, as well as a 25mm longer wheelbase that will provide greater legroom for passengers.

Subaru has improved the quality of the interior, as well as a welcome price drop of around £4,000 since it was last on the market in the UK - thanks to improved exchange rates between the Pound and the Yen.

The latest WRX STi will now set drivers back £28,995, making it considerably cheaper than rivals such as the Audi S3.

The car manufacturer has yet to announce whether it will be launching the more efficient WRX model alongside the powerful WRX STi in the UK.
